Props

It’s Tuesday Again!

Hello my fellow photogs…..so what is your favorite part of food photography? OK, other than the beautiful food and the happy client? You know what I love, props, all props. I like the old ones but I’m a shopper so new ones are easy for me to find.  Check out this week’s image! It’s a hodgepodge of stuff I know. Maybe some of you have a variety of table surfaces in your studio or maybe you are like me with just two options, which just isn’t enough at times. I use inkandelm.com for a lot of my surfaces. They create custom vinyl pieces that come in a variety of colors and designs. They have marbles and bricks and so many others to choose from. They are extremely durable and user friendly. These are a base prop that I rarely shoot without.

Now, for the rest of the image, it truly is anything goes. I love texture and color but I also love whites in all shades.  Metals and woods add character and depth and warmth. Yard sales and clearance items are a treasure chest. My favorite though, unique props on sale at Anthropologie.com and I can use them when I’m not shooting too, just saying.

How about you? I’d love to hear where you prop hunt.
